Boston’s most acclaimed French restaurant was founded by Chef Jamie Mammano in the South End 20 years ago. Today Mistral is still a favorite for those celebrating special occasions or those who like to splurge. The menu highlights the ease of French Mediterranean cuisine, always using the season’s best ingredients. Menu staples also include some of the best tuna tartare we have ever eaten. The restaurant’s decor is reminiscent of Provence. The sophisticated space features a bar, lounge and dining room under soaring ceilings. Find warm accents like authentic French pottery throughout the space. The dining room is comfortable and inviting, while still being formal, it is definitely a time to dress up. If you are looking for a slightly more relaxed experience, perhaps a bottle of champagne and appetizers in the lounge is a great idea. However you decide to dine at Mistral, we think it is worth the splurge.
