The sun is setting later, flowers are beginning to emerge from the ground, and there is a warmth to the air that can only mean one thing; spring is here and along with it is al fresco dining season.
Boston is home to restaurants that are amazing all year round but there is something about dining outside that takes the experience to the next level. We have put together a list of some of our favorite local spots to hit once the winter boots have been traded in for sandals.
Poe’s Kitchen at the Rattlesnake is located in the heart of downtown just steps away from the Public Garden and Boston Common. This one of a kind roof deck on Boylston Street offers up Latin style comfort food and a signature margarita list that Poe’s is known for. Sip on a ginger pear margarita after enjoying a stroll around the Public Garden while munching on unique eats like boar or antelope tacos. Unfortunately they do not accept reservations for the roof deck so this is a great spot for a late lunch or early dinner.
Eastern Standard is amodern brasserie right across the street from Boston’s famous CITGO sign. With a menu comprised of European and New England dishes, there is something for everyone in your party. Enjoy some local oysters on the half shell or steak tartare while sitting right in Kenmore Square. They also have a delicious grilled cheese sandwich made up of Vermont cheese served on house made rye bread. Stop by to check out their reserve beer list to cool down with after a Red Sox game. Visit OpenTable for reservations or call 617-532-9100.
The Beehive, which is less than a 10 minute walk from our Inn, is known for it’s lively jazz brunches but is also home to a large brick patio for outdoor dining. The menu is influenced by cultures all over the world, which provides the opportunity to try exotic dishes without ever leaving Boston. Indulge in a Szechuan style beef brisket or cauliflower parmesan. The drink menu is just as unique as the food, with options like a Carrot Margarita or a Spiced Pear Collins. Visit Open Table for reservations or call 617-423-0069.
After your outdoor meal, check into the Clarendon Square Bed and Breakfast where you can cozy up indoors with one of our luxurious rooms. We offer three styles of rooms and a continental breakfast that can also be enjoyed al fresco on our garden patio.
